How to grill lettuce

Before grilling, cut your lettuce vertically to keep the leaves attached to the stem. Next, set the grill to medium-high heat, as the lettuce should char quickly and requires ample heat. Generously coat the outer leaves with olive oil to enhance flavor and achieve a good sear. Don’t forget to season the lettuce with salt before grilling. It only needs about two to three minutes on each side to develop a nicely charred exterior.
After removing the lettuce from the grill, elevate its flavors with a squeeze of lemon juice and a sprinkle of black pepper. You want to appreciate the smoky flavor from the grill, so there's no need for dressing. However, if you prefer, you can transform it into a grilled salad by drizzling some vinaigrette on top. Enjoy the grilled lettuce soon after cooking, as its texture won’t hold up well in the refrigerator.
