The perfect burrata is an air fryer away
Preparing air-fried burrata is not as straightforward as simply transferring the cheese from its container to the fryer basket and cooking it on high heat. Since burrata is a delicate cheese, there are several important steps to follow for the best results. Start by taking the burrata out of its water-filled container and gently patting it dry with a paper towel. It’s also essential to freeze the burrata beforehand, as this step is vital for frying.
Begin by freezing the dried burrata for about 15 minutes. Next, bread the cheese using a three-step process. First, coat the burrata in flour. Then, dip it into a mixture of beaten eggs. Finally, roll the burrata in breadcrumbs. This method ensures that the breading adheres well during cooking. After breading, freeze the burrata again to prevent it from bursting in the fryer.
When you're ready to cook, set your air fryer to 350 degrees Fahrenheit and cook the burrata for approximately six minutes, or until the outside turns a lovely golden color.
Once cooked, carefully remove the fried burrata from the basket. You can serve it on its own or alongside a sauce like a quality store-bought pesto or classic marinara. Pair it with crackers or slices of baguette for a delightful combination of creamy and crunchy bites of perfectly cooked burrata.
