The Museum of BBQ in Kansas City, Missouri

Established by barbecue food writer Jonathan Bender and whole animal butcher Alex Pope, the Museum of BBQ aims to create a communal experience, reminiscent of how great barbecue brings people together over a meal. While a specific opening date remains unspecified, with only a vague reference to "spring of 2025," it has been confirmed that the museum will be located in Crown Center, Kansas City. The museum is expected to showcase a variety of exhibits that are both educational and interactive, along with a gift shop offering an array of barbecue-related products, including rubs and sauces.
A key focus of the museum will be the diverse barbecue styles found throughout the United States. Spanning over 4,000 square feet, it will feature four distinct exhibits, each highlighting a specific barbecue tradition. The museum has already revealed that these exhibits will concentrate on the barbecue styles of the Carolinas, Memphis, Tennessee, Texas, and Kansas City. Although details are still limited, there are plans for a sauce bar where visitors can sample various flavors. Additionally, there will be a barbecue-themed playground, complete with a smoker-shaped secret entrance and a baked bean-themed ball pit, designed to engage and excite children about learning.
