How Green Mountain Coffee Roasters became Keurig Dr. Pepper

Green Mountain Coffee Roasters was established in 1981 in Waitsfield, Vermont, as a specialty coffee roaster catering to the local community. The company began to expand significantly when coffee enthusiast and entrepreneur Bob Stiller discovered GMCR and invested in it. In 1993, GMCR went public and made its initial investment in a budding company called Keurig Inc.
At that time, Keurig's coffee machines were still under development, with the first prototype, known as Concept 1, being sold in 1995. By 1998, the company started marketing its machines to offices, and in 2004, they became available for home use.
During this period, GMCR was also experiencing growth, partnering with Newman's Own Organics in 2002 to offer fair trade coffee. In 2006, GMCR acquired Keurig Inc., rebranding itself as Keurig Green Mountain. This acquisition was part of a series of purchases in the following years, which included Tully's Coffee, Timothy's World Coffee, Diedrich Coffee, and Van Houtte.
In 2011, Keurig Green Mountain announced a collaboration with Dunkin' Donuts to produce K-cups, and in 2012, they partnered with Costco to create K-cups for Keurig single-cup brewing systems under the Kirkland brand. Keurig Green Mountain continued to grow, and in 2018, it invested $18.7 billion to acquire an 87% stake in Dr. Pepper Snapple Group, resulting in the formation of Keurig Dr. Pepper.
How do you make the perfect cup of Kirkland Breakfast Blend

Not much has changed with Kirkland brand Breakfast Blend K-Cups since GMCR began production. They continue to be crafted from light roasted, 100% arabica coffee that is Fair Trade Certified, kosher, and organic. These K-Cups are designed to fit perfectly in Keurig machines, such as the Keurig K-Express Single Serve brewer, delivering a consistently excellent 6 oz cup of coffee every time. This reliability opens the door to creativity in coffee preparation, with endless possibilities if you have the right ingredients.
Breakfast blends are designed to do exactly what their name implies: combine various beans to create a well-rounded flavor that’s ideal for kickstarting your day. They also serve as a fantastic foundation for crafting specialty coffees at home. You can use two K-Cup pods for a bolder brew or pour the freshly brewed coffee over ice for a refreshing drink. Kirkland's Breakfast Blend K-Cups are also an excellent base for lattes, cappuccinos, and flat whites; all you need to do is master the frothing techniques to create your perfect beverage at home.
After brewing a K-Cup of Kirkland Breakfast Blend, you can repurpose the used coffee grounds for various projects, such as making caffeinated granola, coffee-flavored ice cream, or even compost for your plants. The K-Cups will be processed for recycling, and Keurig Dr. Pepper provides a convenient recycling program to help manage the waste from K-Cup coffee pods.
