Why decanting is the crystal clear choice, even with dubious benefits

At this moment, our bar features both whisky and whiskey bottles, along with a decanter. While this decanter is quite attractive, it doesn't offer any better airtight seal than the capped bottles. We've never observed a noticeable improvement in the taste of our decanted spirits compared to those left in their original packaging. The finest bars around the world, which serve some of the priciest spirits available, don't bother with decanting, so there's little reason to believe it would make a significant difference at home. Plus, by the time any evaporation might occur, you’ll likely have already finished the bottle. However, a whiskey decanter certainly adds a touch of elegance, and many beautiful items lack a clear purpose.
If you're looking for a charming addition to your decor, consider placing a decanter on your shelf. The amber liquid glimmers beautifully, its contours reflect the light perfectly, and the sound of the stopper being replaced adds a touch of sophistication to your drink-pouring ritual at the end of the day. Not a bad deal for something you can find for under thirty dollars on Amazon.
