Making your scoring request

The main challenge with ordering a scored cake from Costco lies in the process of making the request. Their cake ordering system is somewhat outdated, and whether your request will be fulfilled can be uncertain. Unfortunately, you can't pre-order cakes online at this wholesale retailer; all orders must be placed in person using traditional pen and paper.
Before you request scoring, consider if you want any writing or designs on the cake. If so, the buttercream grid lines might clash with your desired look.
When you're ready to place your order, visit your local Costco at least a day ahead of time, complete a "Special Cake Order Form," and indicate your request for scoring. Submit the form in the order slot, and you're all set. While there's a good chance that the Costco staff will see and accommodate your request, you won't know for sure until you pick up your cake.
